2nd Ramadan 2021

Ramadan 2021 / 1442AH – Juz 2

“You who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may be mindful of God.” Qur’an 2:183

Why do we fast? Ramadan is primarily a sacred month in which we double down on our worship in all forms, be that prayer, reading Qur’an, fasting, charity and giving to the community. It’s about reconnecting with Allah.

“The real fasting is the fasting of the heart … Not just food and drink but fasting from all those things that make us heedless of Allah” — Hamza Yusuf

“It was in the month of Ramadan that the Qur’an was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong.

God wants ease for you, not hardship. He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful.

[Prophet], if My servants ask you about Me, I am near. I respond to those who call Me, so let them respond to Me, and believe in Me, so that they may be guided.” 2:185-186

A month of gratitude, it’s a month of guidance and recognising our neediness of God in all things and at all time. Breaking the fast daily reminds us of the cyclical nature of life through hardship and ease.  Reminding us that whenever we’re in need of God he’s never far away. We need only ask.
